Sorry I was unable to write last night, all 50 of u slept away at Camp Grace! A facility that hosts summer camps for kids with disabilities, right up my alley! Not only did we get to do some fun team building games (some of which I already knew thanks to Eaglette retreat :])but we also got to welcome the incoming campers for Camp M*A*S*H, all of which had arthritis in some form (M*A*S*H = Make Arthritis Stop Hurting). The Junior Miss participation in the ropes course and water activities were cut short thanks to sporadic Alabama thunderstorms, and needless to say we were all very disappointed, but the rewarding experience that night working with the Camp MASH kids was yet another reminder that I'm not here for myself but to serve others! The kids were so sweet and wonderful and I was so inspired by them. The balance between getting to know my fellow Junior Misses and playing with the kids was so perfect and such a blast! We ended the night with a campfire and 'getting to know you' game that was so filled with laughs I can't even begin to explain!
The next morning we got up bright and early and ate breakfast with the campers and then headed to Spring Hill Baptist Church for our first rehearsal with Gia our choreographer and I was a little bit (make that a LOT bit) scared! But she turned out to be really sweet and the dance was really easy to pick up on! We had all been sent DVDs to practice with ahead of time, however, the music wasn't provided leaving less incentive to practice (at least in my case!) so I felt a little bit behind but I picked up on it pretty quickly (guess those dance classes paid off!). We had lunch with the Kiwanis Club (for you Texans who don't know what that is, it's like Rotary Club) I had never heard of it before but being an Interact Officer, I noticed it was similar to Rotary. They were so hospitable and all of us Junior Misses had to stand up and introduce ourselves and tell everyone a little known fact about our state. Which leads me to my...*Random Fact* Did you know that out of the THOUSANDS of lakes in Texas, only one is natural? Caddo Lake!
We went back to the church afterwards to rehearse more and then we got decked out in our cutest PJs to meet up with the Girl scout Troops that adopted us for a pizza slumber party! My troop was SOOOOO sweet and got me a bunch of gifts! They were so sweet and kind! So, shout out to Troop 8517, thanks for making me feel like such a celebrity!! :)
Well now I'm off to review opening number choreo before heading to bed! Goodnight everyone! And thanks again for all the support, I'm so thankful for each and every one of you!!!!! :)
