This morning, Spring Hill Baptist Church generously provided a delicious breakfast for all of us. After chowing down on grits and biscuits, some girls went to Catholic Mass and others attended the worship service at SHBC. During the service at Spring Hill, all of us were blessed to witness a young cancer survivor sing "Jesus Loves Me" with his grandfather. His miraculous story filled all of our eyes with tears. Later, the preacher delivered a message reminding the Junior Misses the importance of "running the race" (1 Corinthians). Overall, the church service was a wonderful and moving experience.
For lunch, I was blessed to spend the afternoon with my Host Dad as we all celebrated Father's Day. How awesome is that?
As our first truly relaxing day, all 50 Junior Misses and their Host Families went to Dauphin Island. It was such a wonderful experience. The beach was beautiful, and we all loved getting to chat, eat, and lay out!
I was amazed by the people at Dauphin Island and their personal outlook on the oil spill. Witnessing this catastrophe gave an up-close-and-personal idea of its true effects.
Overall, today was incredible. I feel truly connected to my wonderful Host Family after we enjoyed an entire day together. The Junior Miss girls have also united into one big, loving family!
