Day One of the Fairy Tale!

Please, will someone wake me up, because today I felt as if I were in a Fairy Tale dream completed with my own horse drawn airplane, new found woodland buddies, and my own Prince Charming family, the Thornton’s. The more I think about it, it can't be a dream because I got zero sleep last night, because my pumping adrenaline made it impossible. At five on the dot I was hopping into my parents bed, treating them to a final rude awakening, literally! By six thirty my bags were tucked safely into the car and all the pictures taken. For once my family was on schedule! After a thousand good byes and kisses I finally embarked on my life changing trip to Mobile! So far all the girls are beautiful and amazing and Mobile is generous  and hospitable! I feel like a celebrity everywhere I go giving autographs here or taking a photo there. The Arrival was breathtaking as I walked through the line of Azalea Trail Mates and into a sea of signs splattered with “Welcomes”. I was greeted with hugs from my roomie Danielle (Montana),  my new host mommy (Sherry), and my two host sisters (Erin & Emily)! Since the first words were exchanged I have felt so at home! Next, I was thrown into a room with the other Junior Misses, introductions soon followed. I won’t lie I don’t think I remember many…but they are still amazing! The Opening Ceremony soon followed, with our stage moms shushing us every second (they have their work cut out for them). When I was introduced I only slipped once down the stairs (a new record I think)! Luckily, I managed to stay on my feet! After the Ceremony I was showered by gifts from my Jeffery Howard, my state sponsor, and my Daisy Troop Girls! Everyone was so gracious and genuine.
Finally, I got to go home and unwind! My mommy made us a delicious dinner that hit the spot! Then the evening was filled with talking and packing for tomorrow. I absolutely love my family, Sherry is so motherly I feel at home, A.J. is fun to joke with and tease about his Alabama team (I did almost get thrown out when I came strutting downstairs in my Arkansas hat). Emily and Erin are both precious! I just cannot wait to see what else is in store. I know tomorrow will bring more festivities and memories. God Bless Everyone!

XOXO~ Megan Kay
