Bruce Willis Coming To Mobile
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) Celebrity stalkers take note: Bruce Willis will soon be in Mobile.
According to the Internet Movie Database, "The Prince" is about a retired Las Vegas crime boss forced to return to the city and face his former enemies, when his teenage daughter goes missing. The Mobile Film Office said the movie was originally to be filmed in New Orleans, but the producers changed their minds.
Since 1976, 117 movies or TV shows have been filmed in Mobile. That number is growing at a rapid pace. So don't be surprise this winter if you run into a production crew in the middle of downtown Mobile.
In 1977, "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" was filmed in Mobile. In 1992, it was "Under Siege." Fast forward to 2013, and you have "Tokarev" taking over the Port City, starring Nicolas Cage.
Next month, expect to see another A-lister.
"Well Bruce Willis will be starring in 'The Prince' and will start filming that December 1st, mostly in the downtown area," said Eva Golson, Mobile Film Office Director.
You heard her right. It's confirmed that Bruce Willis is coming to Mobile. Filming should last three weeks and they're looking to hire a local crew. Plus the movie itself will be based in Mobile.
"It will be and realizing that our Christmas decorations will be up, the scenes and time in the movie will be Christmas time and it will be downtown Mobile," said Golson.
Mobile Film Office Director Eva Golson said the movie mania is all thanks to the film incentives that were passed by the Alabama Legislature in 2009.
"With the film industry, when you're working with them, they don't receive one cent until after they spend their money and they turn in their receipts," she said.
The filming of "Convergence" at Infirmary West Hospital just wrapped last week. Production for the horror thriller "Somnia" will begin next week in Fairhope. But that's not all.
"We are working with others. We expect another one to be in here by January. People we've already worked with are coming back," said Golson.
Golson also said a movie that is currently being filmed in north Alabama will be coming down to Baldwin County in January to film a few scenes.
