East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - New York Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw has been diagnosed with a knee sprain that has put his status for Sunday's game with the Atlanta Falcons in question.
Bradshaw sustained the injury during the first half of last Sunday's 52-27 win over New Orleans. Though he did return to the contest, the sixth-year pro was limited to only 11 carries totaling 33 yards.
Giants head coach Tom Coughlin refused to rule out his leading rusher for this weekend's marquee matchup with the 11-2 Falcons, however, noting that Bradshaw has a history of playing through various ailments in the past.
"I'm not going to speculate because of the toughness of this young man on how long it would be," said Coughlin during Wednesday's press conference. "He's very positive about it. He definitely wants to get back as fast as he can."
Bradshaw's injury could lead to an extended role for rookie David Wilson, who put up a career-best 100 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 attempts against the Saints in addition to tallying a franchise-record 227 yards on kickoff returns. The 2012 first-round pick also had a 97-yard kick-return touchdown in that game, earning NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors in the process.
Wilson's 327 yards of total offense established a Giants' single-game record as well.
Wide receiver Hakeem Nicks, who's battling a sore knee, was also held out of Wednesday's practice along with defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul (back), linebacker Michael Boley (back), safety Kenny Phillips (knee) and cornerback Prince Amukamara (hamstring).
Nicks played in last week's game despite a questionable tag and logged four catches for 67 yards and a touchdown.
