Recap: Michigan vs. Slippery Rock
Ann Arbor, MI (Sports Network) - Tim Hardaway Jr. went 5-for-5 from 3-point range en route to a game-high 25 points and ripped down 10 rebounds as No. 5 Michigan thumped Slippery Rock, 100-62, in the season-opener on Friday at Crisler Center.
Trey Burke scored 21 points and handed out eight assists while Glenn Robinson III contributed 10 points and eight boards for the Wolverines (1-0), who lost in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament last season.
"Tim played really well tonight," Michigan coach John Beilein said. "He's been practicing this way for about a week, so it's really nice to have him."
Devin Taylor put home a team-high 14 points and nine rebounds, while Luiz Santos finished with 12 points and Darious Clark added 11 points in the loss for Slippery Rock, who finished 17-10 last season and earned a berth in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament for the third time in four years.
"They showed tonight why they are the No. 5 team in the nation. They are very good," Slippery Rock head coach Kevin Reynolds said.
The game marked the final exhibition tuneup for the Division-II side, which will open its regular season campaign against Ohio Valley University on Nov. 13.
Slippery Rock kept the game close early in the opening half, trailing, 20-17, with a tick under 11 minutes to play.
But the Wolverines slowly began to widen their margin. Matt Vogrish capped a mini 7-2 spurt with a deep 3-pointer, extending the lead to 27-21 with 8:33 left.
Hardaway Jr. drained a jumper out of a media timeout for the Wolverines, igniting a 7-0 run which allowed Michigan to take a 38-25 lead with 3:15 left on the clock.
Michigan continued to put home easy buckets and led 44-30 at halftime.
Taylor hit two straight jumpers for Slippery Rock to open the second stanza, but the Wolverines answered with 10 straight points to push the lead to 20 with less than four minutes gone.
The Wolverines held a double-digit lead the rest of the way and rolled to an easy victory.Game Notes

while holding Slippery Rock to just 36.9 percent ... The Wolverines got the
better of the play on the glass, outrebounding Slippery Rock, 42-31 ... The
