(JACKSON, Miss.) - The former chief of staff for Vicksburg Mayor Paul Winfield has sued him for sexual harassment.

Kenya Burks contends in the lawsuit that she had a consensual relationship with Winfield, but he wouldn't take no for an answer and continued to make unwanted sexual advances after she broke it off.

The lawsuit was filed Wednesday in federal court in Jackson.

Winfield says the lawsuit is frivolous and Burks is out to defame his character and to damage his administration.

The first-term mayor says the allegations in the lawsuit are false and misleading.

Burks also claims in the lawsuit that Winfield retaliated after she wouldn't continue the relationship by eliminating her position.

Burks worked for Winfield from July 2009 until April of last year.

It's a good thing that Mobile doesn't have to worry about our "male" Mayor sexually harrassing a "female" employee.... .'wink wink- nod nod'. I don't think we'll ever have to worry about this happening with Scam as Mayor.

@H2L, Of course this isn't local news but this station doesn't know that. The Local-15 IT employees don't know whether to scratch their watch or wind their butts. The Custodian/Moderator runs this website and comes by and loads topics when he ain't mopping the floors and cleaning the restrooms. I could start a TV station next week from the ground up and it would surpass this station in ratings in 30 days.

How is this local news and why would you report on accusations? Vicksburg is at least 220 miles from Mobile...if you're going to report on rumors, accusations, gossip and inuendo give us the local stuff...there are plenty of juicy little tidbits out there!
