(CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla.) - After nearly two decades, a full-scale space shuttle model is being moved from the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex which will make room for a new exhibit.

NASA crews will move the model on Sunday from the central Florida complex to the Launch Complex 39 turn basin, about four miles away.

It will remain there temporarily until being transported by barge in several months to Texas for display at Space Center Houston.

A NASA report says the move will also help clear the way for the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex to begin building a new facility next year.

Florida Today reports the $100 million exhibit will house retired orbiter Atlantis, whose 33 missions included the 135th and last by a shuttle in July.
