(OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss.) - One of the three roosters in downtown Ocean Springs, Randy, was hit and killed by an SUV.
The Sun Herald reports witnesses told authorities that two roosters had a confrontation and Randy was walking away, when he was hit by an SUV that did not stop.
Mayor Connie Moran said the speed limit in the area is 25 mph, but suggested that might be too fast.
The downtown roosters have become a favorite of locals and visitors.
Until Monday, there were three. The largest one is called Carl, a Rhode Island red who has 2,500 friends on his Facebook page.
The third one is called The General.
Another rooster, not one of the three, well-known downtown roosters, was killed by a car last week.
