(MIAMI, Fla.) - The polls have opened across Florida as Mitt Romney seeks to tighten his grip on the Republican presidential nomination.
Polling places in Florida's Panhandle, which are in the Central time zone, opened at 8 a.m. EST Tuesday.
Polling places close at 7 p.m. local time across the state.
Romney enters the day as the heavy favorite in Florida's winner-take-all primary.
GOP officials were anticipating a large turnout.
More than 635,000 Floridians had already voted as of Monday, either by visiting early voting stations or by mailing in absentee ballots.
