PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) Jackson County Circuit Court judges have recused themselves from presiding over the March trial of sheriff's Sgt. Jackie Trussell.

The former commander of the now-defunct Narcotics Task Force of Jackson County is accused in a July 31 misdemeanor assault on another task force agent.

The Sun Herald reports Judges Robert Krebs, Kathy King Jackson and Dale Harkey filed the recusal order Jan. 25. In the order, they said the reason was Trussell, as a member of the county task force, had testified in trials before the judges.

The judges asked that the chief justice of the state Supreme Court appoint a judge to preside over Trussell's trial, set for March 5 in Jackson County.
