PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) An inmate at the Jackson County jail is reported in critical condition and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is looking into why.

The SunHerald reports that 46-year-old Anthony Eugene Moore was taken to a hospital Sunday evening. Sheriff's Department personnel said Sheriff Mike Byrd planned to issue a news release Monday morning.

According to the jail's online docket, Moore was arrested Feb. 5. He was being held without bond on a felony charge of violating probation.

Moore's hospitalization comes about a week after the death of another inmate, 40-year-old John Morris Lee Jr.

Lee's family said he was an epileptic who did not get the medication he needed. Byrd said last week the jail had followed its policies and procedures correctly in the Lee case.
