BILOXI, Miss. (AP) - Biloxi police say a 35-year-old man is facing charges that include parental kidnapping, grand larceny and felony child abuse.
Vandy Bell Lewis Jr., was arrested Friday. He is accused of taking an infant from its mother during an argument, assaulting the mother, stealing her car and driving off with the child.
Police say the infant was recovered in New Orleans with the help of the New Orleans Police Department.
The infant was not seriously injured.
Authorities say Lewis traveled back to Biloxi and dropped off the mother's vehicle, hoping he would not be arrested.
