(GULFPORT, Miss.) - Gulfport's waterfront recreation area should be open for business when tourist season arrives.

The Sun Herald reports city officials expect construction to be completed in April on all but one of the multimillion-dollar projects under way at the city harbor and Jones
Park to the north.

The Ship Island ferry terminal, on the harbor's northwest end, will go out for bids in January, with a construction time of about 200 days.

Construction has been completed on the 319-slip Bert Jones Yacht Basin and on a Coast Transit Authority comfort station beside the park playground.

The harbor's largest building, an open-air pavilion that will hold two basketball courts, is under construction and should be finished by April.
