HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Multiple freezing rain advisories have been issued as a round of wintry weather heads toward Alabama,

Forecasters say freezing rain advisories are in effect between 3 a.m. and 11 a.m. Friday in north central and northeast Alabama. Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing during the day, and forecasters expect most ice accumulations to melt by noon.

Forecasters expect areas of northeastern Alabama to be glazed with ice Friday morning, and the Birmingham metro area is expected to stay above freezing.

A freezing rain advisory between 3 a.m. and 11 a.m. has also been issued for areas of northwest Alabama, including Lauderdale, Colbert and Franklin counties, among others. Forecasters expect up to a quarter inch of freezing rain there.

Drivers are urged to monitor the latest forecasts for road conditions.
