(PENSACOLA, Fla.) - The Pensacola Fire Department is on scene of a residential structure fire at 2000 W. Gregory St.
Local 15 has learned that an 8 and 10 year old were not able to escape the flames.
Officials say the girls' stepfather woke up and saw an orange glow. That's when he and the mother escaped the home.
They said they attempted to reach the girls through their bedroom window but there was an air conditioning unit blocking access and flames were too intense.
Pensacola Fire Marshal David Allen says the call came in via 911 around 1:30 Monday morning.
He says when the fire department arrived the house was fully involved.
The Pensacola Fire Marshal's office along with the State Fire Marshal will be investigating the cause of the blaze.
Local 15 has a crew on scene. We will have updates throughout the day on Local 15 News at 5, 6 and 10.
