(TALLAHASSEE, Fla.) Gov. Rick Scott is meeting in early January with federal officials to discuss whether or not the state should implement the federal health care overhaul.
Scott will meet Jan. 7 with Secretary Kathleen Sebelius of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The agency is responsible for helping carry out the overhaul.
Scott is a fierce critic of the overhaul, but after the November elections, he softened his rhetoric and said he wanted to discuss his concerns with federal officials.
But the Scott administration this week released new estimates that contends that the federal healthcare overhaul would cost the state nearly $26,000,000,000 over 10 years if fully carried out. That's an estimate more than three times larger than one drawn up over the summer.
