HEFLIN, Ala. (AP) - A child has been killed in a shooting in Heflin that also left several others injured and prompted police to shoot and kill the suspect.
Oxford police told WBMA-TV on Saturday that the conditions of the two wounded victims were not immediately known. A police officer from Heflin was shot in the leg and being treated at the Regional Medical Center in Anniston. The officer's injuries were not considered life-threatening.
WBMA-TV reported that the suspect was shot and killed by SWAT team members in nearby Coldwater.
Further details were not immediately available.
