HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) Authorities say an Alabama college hockey player is recovering after being critically injured in a car crash outside Atlanta.

University of Alabama in Huntsville head hockey coach Kurt Kleinendorst tells The Huntsville Times that Kyle Lysaght was in critical condition after Friday's crash in Marietta, but has made improvements.

Kleinendorst said Lysaght's father told him the 22-year-old's condition has stablilized and it "looks like the worst is behind him."

Lysaght, a sophomore forward, has 12 goals and 23 points in 53 games for the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

Marietta is about 20 miles northwest of Atlanta.
