MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange says he's disappointed that VictoryLand casino has chosen the path of confrontation.
VictoryLand owner Milton McGregor has announced plans to reopen his casino in Shorter at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
The attorney general said he offered VictoryLand the opportunity to go into court to prove their operations are legal, but that was not done. He said he will continue enforcing Alabama laws on gambling.
The attorney general used state police to raid two other casinos earlier this year: Center Stage in Dothan and Southern Star in White Hall.
VictoryLand was once Alabama's largest casino with more than 6,000 machines, but it closed in 2010 under pressure from the state's anti-gambling task force.
