MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A man has pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges in an armed bank robbery from November of 2011.
U.S. Attorneys officials say Gerrard Dixon and an accomplice held employees and customers at gunpoint when they robbed a Fort Deposit bank Nov. 4, 2011. The men fled the scene with $9,000.
U.S. Attorney's Spokesman Clark Morris says the two conspired to rob the bank again just over a month later, but were chased away by police who saw Dixon's accomplice acting suspiciously.
Officials say Dixon is already serving a 30-year prison sentence in the attempted murder of a convenience store worker in Montgomery. He faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in the bank robbery and five more for conspiracy. His accomplice has also pleaded guilty and has yet to be sentenced.
