CHELSEA, Ala. (WPMI) A 21 year old man is in jail on more than $5,000,000, facing charges he held five girls hostage at an Alabama middle school.
Ryan Matthew Sims is facing five counts of kidnapping and a terrorist threats charge. Investigators say he walked into the girls locker room of the Chelsea Middle School gym with a gun on Tuesday and held five students against their will. A deputy who patrols the school and the principal talked him into surrendering. A school spokeswoman says no one raised the alarm when Sims showed up because he was well known to the staff as a part time summer employee. No one was hurt in the incident. Deputies have not said what the motive may have been.
