Ala. Judge Leaves Bench as Defendant Collapses

(MONTGOMERY, Ala.) A hospital spokeswoman says a defendant who collapsed and stopped breathing in an Alabama courtroom is in critical condition.

A Marshall County judge leapt from the bench and helped resuscitate 48 year old Franklin Gary Carter on Tuesday.

Huntsville Hospital spokeswoman Nicole Murray said Wednesday evening that Carter was in critical condition.
