MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley will give the keynote speech at the Alabama Community College System's second annual Legislative Leadership Day Breakfast.
The breakfast will begin at 7:15 a.m. Thursday in Ballroom A/B of Montgomery's Renaissance Hotel.
During the event Bentley will sign a proclamation declaring April Community College Month in Alabama. Republican House Speaker Mike Hubbard of Auburn, Republican Senate Deputy President Pro Tem Jabo Waggoner of Birmingham, and Senate Minority Leader Republican Sen. Vivian Davis Figures of Mobile will discuss the current session of the Alabama Legislature.
House Ways and Means Committee chairman Republican Rep. Jay Love of Montgomery will give an update on the education budget being prepared by lawmakers.
Community College System Chancellor Mark Heinrich will also speak and will outline his vision for the two-year system.
