DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) Concerns over the impact of the looming sequestration have led Dothan officials to cancel an economic development announcement.

City officials were set to make an industry and job creation announcement at the Dothan Regional Airport Friday, but canceled the event because the airport's tower is expected to be on a list of towers to be closed by the FAA on April 1 if a deal is not reached.

Dothan Mayor Mike Schmitz told the Dothan Eagle the unnamed prospective employer wants to wait to see how sequestration will affect aviation before making any announcements. The airport authority was set to accept a more than $7.5 million development grant from the state.
