(MT. VERNON, Ala.) -A former Mount Vernon police officer is now indicted for rape. James Mott turned himself in to police several weeks ago.
He is now facing a first degree rape charge.
Mott was fired in October after he was accused of misconduct involving an inmate at the jail.
At that time, LOCAL 15 News obtained personnel records that show Mott admitted to having sexual relations with a female inmate while on duty.
