(MOBILE, Ala.) - When you have children and you still want to work, is it easier to find a job where you can work from home? For some parents, they say working at home is better for them, as long as there are boundaries.
Kathy Sternberg has been working from home since her 14-year-old son Mac was born. She said it was the best option for her, because she still wanted to work and she wanted to be available for her children.
"I'm flexible if I need to run to school and see a play or something like that. I wouldn't give up anything for the flexibility," Sternberg said.
But Kathy learned very quickly in order to actually get work done she had to set boundaries in her home.
"They're very careful about the time in my office and when I'm on a work call, they're very respectful and that."
Now that Mac and her daughter Mary Katherine are a little older, Kathy said her kids are able to help her out with her home business. Little simple things they can do to help mom finish work faster, so they can spend more time together.
Kathy said you also must have discipline in order to be productive when you are working from home.
