Woman Wanted for Stealing Pain Killers from Work
(Daphne, Ala.) Oct. 15 - A woman is wanted by authorities for stealing thousands of pain killers from the pharmacy where she worked.
When arrested, Rebecca Beaty faces 64 counts of theft. The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office says more than 5,000 prescription pills from PharMerica. The company provides prescriptions to nursing homes.
Deputies say Beaty forged prescriptions for patients at nursing homes who were no longer there. According to deputies, Beaty primarily stole Lortab and Hydrocodone.
Deputies are also investigating Beaty for possible distribution of the pain killers. They say there's no way one person could have ingested all of the medication, in the six-month period during which the pills were stolen.
Beaty could face one year in prison for each of the 64 counts of theft.
