(MOBILE, Ala.)   Local 15 News is learning more about exactly happened inside the sally port at Mobile Metro Jail on Friday, where a Mobile Police Officer was stabbed and killed.

"They freaked out. The inmates were going crazy in the holding cells. They were jumping up against the wall looking and screaming," said Kala Blair, who witnessed the attack.

Blair was leaving the jail when the Mobile Police cruiser pulled up, and the deadly situation unfolded.

"I saw the guy, the police officer get stabbed by this black man, and as soon as the police officer fell the guy jumped inside of his car, and then backed up, and then took off in it and ran through the docking station over there," Blair said.

Another witness, who calls herself "Mary", said she turned to look when she heard Wallace hit the sally port door with Green's patrol car.

"He was coming out of there so fast you couldn't see nothing but police car lights. The sheriff come down the street and went behind, and whoever was driving the police car that stole the police car he shot him, well, shooting at him, he was shooting at him," said "Mary."

"All the police reacted. They ended up taking all the inmates back. Most of them come out here after that, and try to do their best to stand out here and close off the road."

There won't be any backlash against the cop killers family I'm almost positive of that. Look around and see where the civil disobedience always comes from, inner city hood rats that turn a bad situation into a worse one. I'd like to think that we live in a civilized soiety where the citizens will not turn on innocent people. Until something comes out that implicates the family they shouldn't be held directly accountable. However, they raised the cop killer and had to have known what he was capable of. A person doesn't wake up one day and decide to be a hardened criminal that is a slither away from killing a Police Officer. He was raised by someone and those people failed him miserably, by not instillig morals and values along with respect for the laws and LEO. There is only one degree of seperation here, the killers familiy is the direct link to his short life of crime and violent thuggish behavior. It's sad because this will not deter the millions just like Wallace and their families, they will ignore this tragedy and keep on keeping on. The people like Wallace will continue to act like a gansta thug, rob people, rape people, and even kill people that they target for victims. The way I live now is when I see a young black male with his pants hanging, has earrings, loose clothing, and tattoos approaching me I prepare myself what for the worst that may happen to me and I become very defensive mentally. It's sterotyping, I know that, but I'd rather be accused of stereotyping and live than oblivious to what is around me and becoming their next victim. I didn't create this stigma and syereotype, they did.

The weapon was the thing around his neck. Hind sight is 20-20, no doubt changes may be made. It is sad for the family on both sides. The Wallace family was watching television or got phones calls to find out that their relative had done something horrible. I hope the community does not turn on the family it is not their fault.

Very sad indeed but this goes back to proper police training. Anyone placed in a cruiser for any reason should be thoroughly searched prior to placement in the car. This is just basic officer safety procedure. This is a very sad way to be reminded to follow basic officer safety.
