MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WPMI) The Alabama Senate postponed a vote on a proposal that would allow the Mobile County School Board to decide if school resource officers will carry guns.

Senator Rusty Glover proposed a similar bill last year that passed in the Senate, but failed in the House.

He said officers were armed until 2005, when a State Board of Education policy banned it.

Glover expects this current proposal to come up again later in the legislative session.
