Volunteer Firefighter Charged in Chunchula Arson

(CHUNCHULA, Ala.) (AP) February 25 - An 18-year-old volunteer firefighter in Mobile County has been arrested and charged with arson in a house and woods fire.

State Fire Marshal Ed Paulk said firefighter Coty Presley of Chunchula was arrested Tuesday morning. He's accused in a Feb. 19 fire at a residence and surrounding woods in the Chunchula community.

In a statement, Paulk said Presley is a firefighter with the Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department. Charged with two counts of felony arson, Presley surrendered at the Mobile County Jail. Bond was set at $6,000.

If convicted, Presley could be sentenced up to 15 years in prison, plus fines and restitution.
