(MOBILE, Ala.)   Twenty students from Vigor High School Junior Civitan Club and alumni are on their way to Washington D.C. to attend the Inauguration of President Obama.

"When we got the news that President Obama had got elected, the first thing that came out of their mouths is can we go," said one Junior Civitan Club sponsor Aquanetta Mixon.

"We've worked and did fundraisers and found sponsors for ourselves. We've gotten donations from churches and local business, and we sold t-shirts," said Civitan President Kierra Scholas.

Students said the Inaugural T-shirts were a hit, but raising more than $10,000 was not easy.

"They never got discouraged knocking on doors, you know not opened to them. They kept going," said Mixon.

Students said every penny will be worth it once they arrive at the nation's capitol.

"I'm glad that President Obama's Inauguration is on MLK day because all this is history," said student Jantrell Marks.

Students leave for D.C. this Saturday and will arrive Sunday afternoon. Students will have a chance to attend the inaugural ball, parade, and other festivities.
