MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) Mobile Police have released the name of the man killed while walking away from a crash Thursday morning.
Seventy-five-year-old Buster Brown Streetman of Chickasaw was driving on Interstate 65 near the Government Street exit, when he got into a wreck with another vehicle. After the crash, police say Streetman attempted to cross the interstate to check on the other driver, when a third vehicle traveling southbound in I-65 hit him.
"He was a caring man. He helped anybody he could you know. I understand he had gotten out of the car to check on the other person to see if the person was OK. And that sounds like Buster. He would try and help someone, you know?" said Streetman's next door neighbor, Jackie Reddick, 82.
"It still seems unreal to me that he's gone. But life is so short. You live each day to the fullest," she said.
Streetman died on the scene.
No charges are expected in the case.
