(MOBILE, Ala.) A Veteran U.S. Navy Reserve Commander from Mobile is named Veteran of the Year.
Commander Robert Edington received the honor Monday at Battleship Park.
Hundreds gathered to recognize the service of the men and women of the U.S. military.
Edington says young men and women should count it an honor to serve their country.
"We would not be a free nation without a lot of Veterans. It takes a lot of people to man the Army, Navy and Air Force," says Edington.
Edington also supports a return to military drafts.
The Commander says the military is a great training ground and it matures young people dramatically.
