MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) -- The red carpet is usually reserved for stars. Saturday night at the Battlehouse Hotel was no different. The people who strolled in do nothing for show, rather for freedom.
With their loved ones at their side, members of the Army National Guard Battalion 226 are getting ready to say goodbye for now during a special send off.
Managers had a special salute to one of their own, Adam Yunker. "He's our superstar in the World Street Tavern," one supporter said. Yunker, a bartender by trade is all set for his first deployment.
"Yeah I'm nervous, excited, mostly excited, I've been in the Army 8 years now and haven't deployed by some luck," Yunker said..
He will be missed. But he will be in good company. "it kind of prepares everybody for the separation."
For them, that word is hardest to say.
Reunion is the word that makes hope that much easier to believe..
