(PENSACOLA, Fla.) The Edward Ball Nature Trail is back open after bones were found on the trail late Thursday afternoon.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement and other authorities have left the University of West Florida main campus.

The trail reopened to normal activity and UWF is reassuring the campus community that the area is safe. Students got an email blast about the discovery Thursday.

Authorities say the bones could be human, but they are being sent for testing to confirm that. They were discovered by ROTC students in a remote area of the trail.
