MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) Local 15 has learned the name of the victim, but police have still not released his identity.

Cedric Riley, 34, died from his injuries at University of South Alabama Medical Center, which is just a few blocks away from where he was shot.

The shooting happened around noon at 2410 King Street. A next door neighbor told Local 15 he heard four to five gunshots, came outside and saw Riley unconscious in the yard. The neighbor said he helped Riley's wife get him into a car, and she drove him to nearby USA Medical Center.

“He has a wife and two young kids, two beautiful kids,” close family friend Nita Thomas told Local 15. “He doesn’t bother nobody…He just a quiet person.”

Mobile Police blocked off King Street for four hours while detectives investigated. Investigators appeared to pour plaster to get a mold of a shoe print in the mud at the scene.

Mobile Police have remained tight-lipped about the investigation. A possible motive and suspect description have not been released.

Thomas told Local 15 she heard a “young man” shot Riley, but she doesn’t know who he might be or why he would want to kill him.

It’s unclear whether or not Riley's children were at home during the shooting.

If you have any information that could help investigators, you’re asked to call Mobile Police at (251) 208-7211.

How can this be? All juveniles are at home with their families, working aged people are relaxing and getting ready to return to work monday, and all of the illegal firearms were sold during the local but back program!
