BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WPMI) The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a human skull and remains were discovered by hunters under the Dolly Parton Bridge.
Captain Steve Arthur with BCSO said the skull "appeared to have an injury consistent with a bullet hole."
Hunters made the discovery between 12 and 2 p.m. Saturday.
Capt. Arthur says the "fairly weathered" remains were found off Lizard Creek and Mobile River, just inside the Baldwin County line by the General WK Wilson Bridge, also known as the Dolly Parton Bridge.
That area is only accessible by boat.
Officials say Marine Police responded to the scene. There, two to three additional bones were located.
The human remains have been released to the Baldwin County coroner's office.
Officials say the Alabama Department of Forensic Science will help determine who the bones belong to.
