The FBI is has been working alongside Thomasville Police and the Clarke County Sheriff's Office to crack the case and Thursday.
Authorities say people were walking around in the heart of downtown Thomasville Monday night when Collins was killed inside her business, Collins & Collins Insurance.
But no one heard the gunshot that killed her.
"She did my taxes. She was a personal friend of mine," said Mayor Day.
Day says Collins called her husband to say she'd be working late at the office. That was the last any of her family heard from her.
"We don't want our citizens frightened and scared that we've got a killer on the loose," says Clarke County Sheriff Ray Norris.
The motive for the shooting is unclear. It might have been robbery, but there was no money missing from the business and little sign of struggle.
"We don't know of any enemies that this lady had," says Sheriff Norris, "We've gotten some very good leads, and we're hoping we can close this case out very quick."
