TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WPMI) Bill Battle has been named the new athletics director at the University of Alabama. A formal announcement will be made at 11:30 a.m. Friday.
The announcement comes after former athletics director Coach Mal Moore stepped down, citing health issues. Moore will now be special assistant to University President Judy Bonner.
Bonner recommended Battle Thursday. Moore announced he was stepping down Wednesday.
Bonner said she chose Battle because of his experience as a coach and his business background.
