MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) A team of investigators along with members of the National Transportation Safety Board are in Mobile now to start looking into the cause of the engine room fire aboard the Carnival cruise ship.

The Triumph is a Bahamian ship, so their government is taking lead. Contract investigators, ship surveyors and engineers will spend days on board as part of their investigation.

However, U.S. officials are also actively engaged. The National Transportation Safety Board is mainly concerned with what caused the fire and improving cruise ship safety in the future.

"Everything from back up power systems you know where the redundancies worked what didn't work, what can be done to make sure it doesn't happen again is the real important answer, " said Jimmy Lyons, director of the Alabama Port Authority in Mobile.
