MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) Mardi Gras is all about letting the good times roll, but it won't be such a good time if you end up with a ticket or worse, in jail. Police have a few guidelines meant to keep everyone safe.

They say items like silly string and party poppers are not allowed. Don't throw things back at the parade riders. The fine associated with climbing over a street barricade is $238.

Police say don't try your luck when it comes to towing, even if you see other cars parked there.

"It's very simple," said Mobile Police Corporal Chris Levy. "Just look at the signs. If you see a picture of a tow truck with a car on it, don't park there."

Another big no-no is bringing pets to the party. Even on leashes, dogs are banned from the downtown area during Mardi Gras.

"It puts pets in an area where they're nervous, and we just cant have an accidental incident where your dog is out of its element and it accidentally bites somebody," Levy said.

Alcohol is allowed for those of legal drinking age, as long as it's not in a glass container. Even so, police say most of the arrests they make are drug and alcohol related, so they advise revelers to use caution when letting the good times roll.
