MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) Just one week after an EF-2 tornado tore through town, preparations for Mobile’s fifth annual MoonPie drop commenced without a hitch Sunday.
“This celebration is going to show the rest of this country and world Mobile’s resilience,” city spokesperson Barbara Drummond said. “We know how to rebound and we know how to join together and help each other.”
Bill Lang, PR manager for the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail and Resort Collection, said he’s received a number of phone calls and emails from out-of-towners planning to attend the MoonPie drop.
“Some folks have been like, ’I’m driving five hours, after the tornados is everything still on?’” Lang said. “Of course, everything is still going on as planned.”
Lang said the Battlehouse Hotel is booked solid, but the Renaissance Riverview Hotel still has some rooms available.
