MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) Forecasters say a large tornado is heading for downtown Mobile with tornado watches in effect throughout much of southwestern Alabama. National Weather Service forecasters say the Mobile area will be under tornado watch until 10 p.m. Tuesday, and the approaching cloud was visible from downtown Mobile around 5:15 p.m.

The storm is part of a severe weather system that has already impacted areas of Louisiana and Mississippi. The storms come one week after an EF1 tornado touched down in the area causing much destruction in the area.

Local 15 News Reporter Christian Jennings reports heavy damage in the area of Murphy High School. Witnesses report roofs missing from several buildings near the school.

The Mobile Fire Department has crews going door to door where there is damage, looking for injuries.

"Crews report no injuries in Roger Williams area, one transported to hospital with pregnancy issues," the department's Twitter feed said.

If you can safely take pictures of damage in your area, please send them to local15@local15tv.com.

This doesn't sound too christian like but it would have been nice if mother nature put a stop to power real e$tate. Couldn't even relax through christmas day without a bunch of traffic.
