DAUPHIN ISLAND, Ala. (WPMI) Revelers on Dauphin Island Saturday let the good times roll. The Krewe De La Dauphine kicked off the first parade of the 2013 Mardi Gras season .

The crowds were huge as thousands lined Bienville Boulevard, looking for the best vantage point to catch those coveted Mardi Gras throws, and of course the MoonPies they love so much.

It's great for businesses, too. Many told Local 15 News that Saturday's parade showed a promising 2013 on the island.

"I think we're going to probably be a little bit ahead of the game by the time spring break kicks off and the summer," said Corey Moore with Dauphin Island BBQ.

Employees at the Chevron on Bienville Boulevard say this is their fourth biggest weekend of the year.
