ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WPMI) A Tate High School student has been arrested after officials say he set a soap dispenser on fire in one of the boy's bathrooms.

It happened Wednesday around 9:40 a.m.

The school resource officer heard someone yell that there was a fire. The officer said he could see dark smoke billowing out from the bathroom. By the time the officer grabbed the fire extinguisher, the principal had already put out the blaze.

Investigators say a 15-year-old student admitted to setting the fire because he wanted to melt the soap dispenser so no one else could get soap to wash their hands.

The teen is charged with arson, disturbing the peace and criminal mischief.
