PENSACOLA, Fla. (WPMI) The Escambia County Sheriff's Office has released the names of two men charged in connection with an officer shooting Wednesday evening.

Twenty-three-year-old Keenan Ross Finkelstein is charged with attempted murder of a police officer. Twenty-four-year-old Jonathan Brett Chappell is charged with armed robbery with a firearm, grand theft of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance.

Authorities say it all started when Chappell robbed a man at gunpoint at the Tom Thumb on Pensacola Blvd. near W Street during a drug deal. They say after the robbery, Chappell ran to a home on Burning Tree Road, where Finkelstein was waiting for him.

Sergeant Shedrick Johnson was called to that home to look for Chappell. Authorities say when he got there, Finkelstein came out of the garage, raised a handgun and gunfire was exchanged. Johnson was hit in the leg. He was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital, where he was last listed in fair condition.

A short time later, Pensacola Police arrested Finkelstein. Chappell came out of the garage and was arrested.

Finkelstein is in jail with no bond.
