(MOBILE, Ala.) “This is all part of a movie man,” robbery suspect Lawrence Wallace told reporters as he was led out of Mobile Police headquarters. “See y’all in a minute.”

Minutes later, Wallace would stab one of the arresting police officers to death.Wallace was driven to Metro Jail, where he fatally stabbed Officer Steven Green in the Sally Port. Police sources have told LOCAL 15 Wallace’s weapon was a small blade attached to a necklace he was wearing.

“He just started stabbing the officer in the neck,” a shocked witness said. “The inmates were going crazy.”

Wallace somehow commandeered a law enforcement vehicle and took off onto Dauphin Island Parkway with police in pursuit. He ditched the vehicle and holed up in a house in the 1300 block of Daytona Street. Wallace came into the possession of a firearm, but officials will not confirm whether or not it was a law enforcement weapon taken from the stolen vehicle or the fallen police officer.

A stand-off ensued, with one police officer shot in the arm during an exchange of fire. Shotgun blasts tore holes in the house to shoot tear gas inside in hopes of smoking out Wallace. When he didn’t come out, a tactical team with automatic weapons entered and fatally shot Wallace.

unfortunate incident, yet the perp is still somebodys loved one.i think the police officers let their guard down on this one, because we see all the time on the local news, criminals being taken to metro, running their mouths and such, and maybe they just assumed he was only shooting off at the mouth, but in hindsight, changes need to be made, and most importantly, the justice system in Mobile, county needs to take a hard line against these repeat offenders.prayers and comfort to all parties involved in this tragedy.

I hate to type this but the buck stops with the Chief of Police for the fundamental breakdown of basic rules and regulations. The FBI would have never allowed that perp to have anything left on his person, much less a weapon he openly showed. How many Officers at Police Headquarters came i contact with this thug ad saw him with the weapon? I counted 3-4 just outside the rear of the building while he was being escorted to the Police car. Some of them were smiling and laughing at the soon to be killer. This entire tragedy could have easily avoided of they had taken precaution, two people dead and one injured because the Police have become immune to all the dangerous criminals caught daily in Mobile County. We will never know what actually happened in the sallyport and see the video, just like the two accidents that injured and killed people in recent MPD wrecks. Chief Williams must be held accountable and his department needs to be carefully reviewed from top to bottom. The worst thing that could happen from all this is nobody is disciplined and demoted because of it.

It is so sad this has to happen. My heart goes out to the family. I have to wonder though, will this be a wakeup call loud enough to our legislature to stop catering to groups like the ACLU and prisoner's rights activist, and make some changes to keep criminals in jail? Every time they let the criminals out, they just get herder to the system and more and more dangerous to our law enforcement and to society. I get so tired of see so many arrests on the news of people with rap sheets longer than your arm. Defence attorneys are suppose to defend the innocent, not get the guilty out on lesser charges. Things like this are expensive and brings more danger into our communities and to our law enforcement. I woulder if our legislators were the ones out there getting shot at, would things be a lot different?

Why don't these people try getting educated and getting a job instead of robbing people. I hope this guy is rotting in hell. And the rest of the people who follow down the same path better be ready to do the same. Good job at blowing this creep away Mobile police.
