(GULF SHORES, Ala.) Relief efforts continue for people who were impacted by Superstorm Sandy. Plenty of folks along the Gulf Coast have been stepping up to help.
The latest group, the Knights of Columbus in Gulf Shores. The Catholic men's organization started collecting items to help hurricane victims in the North East a week ago and still need your help.
Early on they were asking for heaters and blankets. Now, more than anything, they need cleaning supplies, things like mops, bleach and other detergents.
Today at Our Lady Of The Gulf Catholic Church in Gulf Shores volunteers spent the day sorting and boxing items that will go to the "Towns River" area of New Jersey. The truck leaves Saturday morning and there's still time to donate. "This is a statewide effort for the Knights of Columbus. We are going to leave here and we will head north going to New Jersey and we'll stop in Montgomery and Birmingham picking up items on the way. As far as dropping items here, Friday evening will be last call for the truck, " said Ike Williams with the local Knights of Columbus chapter.
You can donate in person at the church anytime before Friday night. For contact information and directions go to our website at Local 15 TV.com. Click on the Find It section. http://www.ourladyofthegulfal.org/
