The vast majority of America's teachers don't want to carry a gun in the classroom, despite recent violence.

That's from a survey by School Improvement Network, a company that helps with teacher training.

It talked with nearly 11,000 educators:

- 72 percent said they wouldn't carry a gun in school even if they were allowed.

- 36 percent of educators surveyed reported owning a firearm.

- 92 percent said they feel safe in school and believe their students feel the same...

But 88 percent said they would feel even more safe having an armed police officer on campus.

The survey was conducted in January, weeks after the December 14 Connecticut school shooting.
